Tower Trail Update!

What a day out on Tower Trail!

After 5 solid hours of hard work, the team successfully cleared the remainder of the corridor—a huge milestone that now allows the DR mower crew to complete the prep the trail for our rootball/tread teams to follow. This is how progress happens—step by step, crew by crew.

A big thank you to two of our top USFS-certified sawyers, supported by a strong safety lead, who powered through a tough day:

• John Pilcher

• Miles St. Peter

• Angela Allen

This was no easy effort. The day started in the mid-40s and climbed into the 60s, and the team felt every bit of it—especially tackling an output point best described as “mountain goat worthy,” all while carrying packs weighing 40–50 lbs. That’s dedication.

110 projects have been identified, thank you Josh Dexter, that must be completed before the trail can be inspected and recommended to the USFS for reopening. There’s still plenty of work ahead, and we need your help to get it done—especially with weather quickly becoming a factor.

⚠️ Safety Reminder:

While working, the crew encountered hikers on the trail. Please remember—Tower Trail remains under USFS closure. This is strictly for user safety. Many areas still have dangerous, hidden hazards where uprooted trees have left deep voids concealed under leaves and pine straw. Our crews are trained to spot them—but the risk is real for anyone else.

Stay tuned for upcoming workdays and consider stepping up to lend a hand. We truly can’t do this without you!
