What a great day on the Keg Creek Trail! The Part 1 work party knocked out a lot of ground, but with 9 miles of trail to maintain, we’re not quite halfway there.
Part 2 is this Saturday, August 8, and right now we only have about half the volunteers we need to complete the annual foliage maintenance. If you’ve ever enjoyed riding, running, or hiking Keg Creek, this is a great opportunity to give back.
A huge thank you to these trail warriors who tackled the back side of Keg Creek today with 3 DR mowers and 2 string trimmers. There were three trees down on the access road fortunately Trail champion Ed Farnell was prepared for that and they were handled quickly!

Take a look at the map in the first photo. It’s easy to see why Keg Creek is one of our most challenging trails to maintain. Its remote location and limited access make the work tougher, but that’s also exactly why so many people love it. Winding along the shoreline of Thurmond Lake, it’s one of the most scenic trails in our area.
If you’ve never explored Keg Creek, now is the perfect time. Come lend a hand this Saturday, then come back and experience one of the region’s hidden gems.
Can you help us finish the job? Even a few more volunteers will make a huge difference. If you can join us Saturday morning, please sign up at sorbacsra.org or email sorba.csra@gmail.com.
Together, we can finish Keg Creek, get it in great shape for everyone to enjoy, and move on to the few remaining trails that still need their annual foliage maintenance. Thank you!
