Brown Wave Update!

What a great day on the Brown Wave Trail!

We had only 3 people signed up by midweek, but after another call for help, 21 volunteers signed up and showed up ready to work. Even better, there was a great mix of mountain bikers, runners, and hikers working side by side.

One volunteer lives in Orlando but comes up to ride FATS from time to time. We certainly don’t expect our out of town visitors to jump in on trail work. But he will be in the area for a little while so we were happy to put him to work when he reached out.

In just a few days, between the prep work and today’s work party, volunteers logged an incredible 92.5 hours of trail work.

A late-night thunderstorm rolled through the area Friday night, and if FATS had received another inch or so of rain, we would have had to cancel today’s work party. Fortunately, the storm veered away at just the right time, leaving the trails in good enough condition for us to get the work done.

Not only did the teams complete all of the Brown Wave Trail, they also finished two remaining touch-up projects on Great Wall and cleared the connector trail leading from the main FATS parking lot.

Many thanks to these outstanding trail warriors!
